The Most Insane Painting Technique Ever – Photoshop Tutorial!

In this Photoshop painting tutorial, I’ll show you a simple technique to paint anything. Whether you have a Wacom tablet, an iPad, or just a mouse, you can follow along.

Add a solid color adjustment layer and choose white as the color. Rename this layer to “background.”

Duplicate the photo’s background layer and name it “reference.” Place it on top.

Duplicate the background layer again and position it below the reference layer. Lower the opacity of this layer to 1%. Add a blank layer. To select both layers, press Ctrl (or Command) and click on them.

Hide the reference layer for now. Right-click on the selected layers and choose “merge layers.” Rename this merged layer as the “painting layer.”

Select the mixer brush and choose a soft round brush. Use any painting brush you like.

Enable the option to clean the brush after each stroke. Adjust the wetness to around 30%.

Set the load to 50%, mix to 100%, and flow to 100%.

Start painting randomly on the blank canvas using colors derived from the apparently transparent painting layer.

If the colors are similar to the original ones but lack shape and details, use the reference layer. Lower its opacity (around 10% to 20%) and follow the contour lines of your subject.

Start with an underpainting layer to provide colors and general shapes from your photograph, while the brushstrokes and painting style come from you.

With this technique, you can paint human faces, landscapes, or anything you desire. Remember, patience is key to achieving the best results.
